Yet Another Reason To Visit Chattanooga
On a recent visit to Chattanooga, my family enjoyed dining at the downtown Big River Grille and Brewery. While there, we spotted several climbers scaling the outdoor building across the street from us. It made for an entertaining lunch to say the least, and we had to check it out after our meal.
A Super Fun Climbing Kid Zone
It turns out that we were viewing the outside climbing wall of High Point Climbing Gym. Intrigued, we set out for more info. It is indeed a large climbing facility, and we were thrilled to discover that it includes a huge Kids Zone, designed especially for the young climber. The 3,000 Sq. Ft. area offers 15 auto belays and a 10 foot tall kid’s boulder. Trust me that your kids will not want to leave.
After a brief 5 minute orientation and gear rental ($6), my girls (ages 7 and 11) were climbing up the dinosaur wall, the maze wall, the city landscape, the rope wall...you get the idea! Beyond the Kid Zone, you will also find beginner, intermediate, and advanced climbs throughout the facility.
A Great Winter Activity for the Family
Your $15 admission covers a full day and you can come and go as you wish. This is an amazingly fun kid activity right in the heart of downtown Chattanooga. It's also the perfect destination for an active indoor activity during hot, cold, or rainy weather. My girls can't wait to return.
Next time we visit Chattanooga, we are going to buy our pass early in the day and hop in and out between our activities. It is located across the street from Big River Grill and Brewery at 219 Broad Street. Opening hours vary by the day (alternating between a 6am and 10am opening), so be sure to check their website.
