USA At A Glance

These are the trips across the USA that we have loved throughout the years and recommend to all our friends and family.

We’ve put in the hours to research a fantastic trip, our own families have loved them, and we share all the details so you can experience the same. Our hope is to make it easier for families to explore together.

Trips We Love By State

Kentucky

Growing up in Tennessee, Kentucky was just a hop, skip, and a jump away. We especially love the spectacular Big South Fork National River And Recreation Area, which spans the border with Tennessee. Covering 125,000 acres of some of the best hiking in the southeast, Big South Fork is known for its outstanding rock arches and waterfalls as well its scenic train to a historic mining town.

Montana

Bozeman, MT is Amy’s favorite place in the U.S. With plenty of snow skiing at Big Sky Resort (our favorite), Bridger Bowl, and Discovery Ski Area and two amazing must-see national parks: Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park, you’ll find plenty to see and do.

See our Simply Awesome Trips in Montana for all the details.

North Carolina

We visit these fantastic mountain towns for great hiking, breweries, and plenty of things to do with the kids: Asheville, Bryson City, and Brevard.

See our Simply Awesome Trips in North Carolina for all the details.

Tennessee

Amy and I both grew up in Tennessee and have a dedicated website just for East Tennessee vacations including Knoxville, Chattanooga, Johnson City, state parks like Frozen Head, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (all the hikes, lodging, and things to do), the unspoiled (and less crowded) Big South Fork Recreation Area, and so much more!

See our Knoxville Backyard & Beyond website for all the details.

Utah

Kolob Canyon (less crowded than Zion), hiking the Narrows in Zion National Park (we had the most amazing experience), Capitol Reef National Park (so worth a visit!)

Lots more to see on our Utah webpage!

Virginia

Abingdon and biking the Virginia Creeper Trail are annual favorite getaways, especially in the fall. The wild ponies and soaring views in Grayson Highlands State Park and Shenandoah National Park are two of our favorite outdoor destinations in the southeast.
