I typically spend countless hours researching and planning our vacations, making sure to uncover the best a destination has to offer. Conversely, I also appreciate the simplicity and ease of an agenda-free family vacation at the beach. I appreciate the scarcity of activities that require planning and packing is super easy--swimsuit, boogie boards, sunscreen. Check.
It's Reliably Fun
There’s just something about the constant and reliable enjoyment that each day at the beach brings. Wake up, say good morning to the ocean, assume beachfront position with book, and watch the kids play in the surf and build sand castles. Rinse and repeat.
Over the years, I have watched my daughters grow up at the beach. From the first years when we dipped our baby’s toes in the water to today when I can watch their confidence and strength in the waves at a distance I never would have been comfortable with even a year ago.
Enjoy the Perfect Mix of Relaxation and Play
We truly enjoyed our week with friends at Emerald Isle, NC. We shared delicious meals on the deck, took naps on the beach lulled by the waves, went shell seeking on a remote island, played card games, and settled into a nice routine of relaxation and play.
Slow Down and Smell the Roses (or sea air)
As much as travel can be about exploring, it can also simply be a great way to break from the routines of daily life, to slow down enough to take a deep breath, and to observe your children growing right before your very eyes.
